A Monthly Look Inside Aravilla Clearwater

Hawaiian Party!

Aloha, August! We’re excited to welcome August at Aravilla Clearwater as we celebrate the vibrant culture and spirit of Hawaii and the islands. Join us on August 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Promenade as we welcome back the talented Polynesian dancer, Valerie H. She will captivate guests with a mesmerizing hula performance, dressed in authentic Hawaiian attire and bringing the beauty, grace, and traditions of the islands to life through every movement. Feeling inspired? We invite everyone to join in and hula along to the rhythm of the music! To complete this tropical celebration, guests can enjoy a selection of fresh Hawaiian inspired fruits and refreshing tropical beverages, adding the perfect touch to this festive afternoon. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable celebration filled with culture, music, dance, and island flavors. We look forward to sharing this special experience and creating wonderful memories with our residents, families, and friends. Mahalo, and we’ll see you there!

Senior Citizen’s Day!

National Senior Citizens Day is celebrated each year on August 21st, honoring the lasting impact older adults have on our families, communities, and society. On this special day, you’ll find a variety of appreciation programs in addition to commercial offers. Many retailers, restaurants, and service providers feature special
discounts or promotions for seniors with valid identification. Watch for expanded senior discounts and special dining offers. Most importantly, take time to celebrate their wisdom, experience, and continued contributions seniors make to family, community, and the workforce. Show your appreciation by spending quality time together, offering a helping hand, or supporting senior well being. Your kindness will brighten their day and yours.

Ice Cream Social!

The summer heat is in full swing, and there’s no better way to cool down than with a delicious, sweet frozen treat. Throughout the summer months, residents eagerly look forward to gathering every Monday at 2:00p.m. in the Promenade for our weekly Ice Cream Social. To ensure everyone can enjoy this special tradition, we offer a variety of options, including traditional, lactose-free, and sugar-free ice cream with a variety of toppings. Whether choosing a favorite classic flavor or trying something new, there is something for everyone to enjoy. More than just a refreshing afternoon treat, these weekly gatherings provide a wonderful opportunity for residents to relax, connect, and enjoy meaningful conversations with neighbors and friends. The Ice Cream Social has become a cherished summer tradition that encourages fellowship, laughter, and a true sense of community. As the old saying goes, “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” It’s always heartwarming to see everyone come together to celebrate the simple joys of summer.

Resident Spotlight:
“Sally G.”

We are delighted to celebrate Sally G. as a cherished member of our Aravilla family!

Salvatrice, “Sally” was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father immigrated from Italy through Ellis Island, New York, bringing with him a rich heritage that has remained an important part of her life. After graduating from high school in Baltimore, she continued her education at Howard Community College, earning certifications in finance and as a medical assistant. She spent her entire career with Bradley Electric in the finance department, retiring in the 1990s. Sally married in 1956 and is the proud mother of two sons and two grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family and was especially known for her homemade lasagna, a favorite at the family gatherings she enjoyed hosting. Sally and her husband shared a love of horses and spent many happy days at the racetrack in Charles Town, Virginia. She treasures time spent with family. A favorite memory is a month long trip to Italy with her family to reconnect with relatives and celebrate their heritage. She also fondly remembers the surprise of meeting Wayne Newton while visiting Las Vegas. A fun fact about Sally is that she is bilingual, speaking both Italian and English fluently. We are delighted to have Sally as part of our community and hope you’ll take a moment to introduce yourself, say ciao, and help make her feel right at home.
