Arts and Crafts

Every Friday here at Aravilla we host our Arts & Crafts class! From canvas painting, to wood crafts, rock/shell painting and more! Hosting weekly Art classes have many benefits to our community. Crafting enhances social and psychological wellbeing as well has reduces anxiety and agitation or stress. Hand eye coordination is also practiced during this activity. But most importantly it increases enthusiasm, confidence, enjoyment, and social contact with one another. After the class is over, we then place the artwork out for display in our 24/7 open café! Don’t be late for our next Arts & Craft Class this Friday at 1:45PM in the Promenade!

Flowers & Wine

Every Tuesday and Thursday night here at Aravilla we host nightly activities that start around 6pm and end close to 8pm. On Thursday’s we have movie night in the great room located at the end of the service hall which we convert into a movie theater. However, on Tuesdays we host a special activity for our ladies to relax and enjoy time. Our Tuesday Flower Arrangement activity not only reduces stress and anxiety but it also provides cognitive and sensory stimulation. It also helps engage senses to improve motor skills and instills a sense of independence and accomplishment. After the ladies are finished with their masterpieces we then display their work on our Promenade tables for our visitors to enjoy as well. But let’s not forget! Our ladies also get to enjoy a glass of wine while they whine down and arrange flowers! Join us Tuesday night at 6pm in the Promenade for our next flower arrangement activity.

Resident Spotlight Patricia O.

We want to take a moment to recognize Patricia O. as a part of our Aravilla Family! Patricia was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin in 1929. She graduated high school in 1947 and proceeded to study at the Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota. Her major was Sociology and her minor was Music. Interesting fact, Patricia was a part of the PHI BETA KAPPA (Prestigious Academic Honor Society), and earned her Masters Degree in Science from Illinois State University. Patricia met her husband, Carroll, at Carleton College. They got married in 1951 and together have 5 kids, 3 boys and 2 girls. Patricia is also a very proud grandmother of 8! Patricia was a very busy woman! Apart from being a housewife, she played organ at the local church, taught piano lessons, gave tennis lessons, and participated in a lot of volunteer work including the Habitat of Humanity and at a Hospice Center! She was even a Board of Director for a local Orphanage. Patricia’s favorite place is Pulaski Lake, Wisconsin, where her parents built a lake cabin in 1935. She grew up there and still visits every summer as the property remains within the family. We are so very blessed to have Patricia here as a part of our Aravilla Family. You can’t miss her beautiful smile around our community.
