A Monthly Look Inside Aravilla Clearwater

Independence Day!

Hello July! As summer is here, we look forward to celebrating a history milestone this Independence Day as our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence. This landmark occasion honors the signing of the Declaration of Independence and provides an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s rich history, recognize the contributions of generations of Americans, and look toward the future we hope to build for those who follow. To celebrate this special occasion, we invite you to join us on Saturday, July 4th at 12:00-2:00pm for an afternoon of food featuring American favorites including burgers, ribs, chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, and other classic summer fare. Following the cookout, join us in the Promenade at 2:00-4:00pm as Louie B. features beloved patriotic songs.

Jolley Trolley!

Trolley excursions for seniors Aravilla ClearwaterIn honor of our fathers, residents and their loved ones enjoyed a delightful mystery trip on June 23rd, courtesy of the Jolley Trolley. We are incredibly grateful to Jolley Trolley for generously donating a charter of up to three hours, creating a memorable experience for our residents and their families. The adventure included a special stop at Ice & Cream Creamery, where everyone was treated to delicious ice cream. With treats in hand, the group enjoyed a scenic trolley ride through Dunedin, along the Dunedin Causeway, and through Clearwater. To add to the fun, residents and their loved ones donned silly hats and playful eyeglasses, bringing smiles and laughter to every stop along the way. The afternoon was filled with joy, sweet memories, and plenty of photo worthy moments. It was an unforgettable day. Thank you Jolley Trolly for sharing the afternoon with us!

Resident Spotlight:
“Thomas R.”

We are delighted to celebrate Thomas R. as a cherished member of our Aravilla family!

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Thomas graduated from Churchland High School and attended Virginia Military Institute (VMI). He proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, he was a helicopter pilot and completed two tours in Vietnam. While stationed in Turkey, he also served as an aide to a U.S. Army General. After retiring from the Army, Thomas worked for PALL Corporation in Ocala and Pinellas Park, Florida. He later became a certified real estate appraiser and successfully operated his own appraisal company before retiring.

Thomas has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, visiting countries including Turkey, England, Israel, Canada, and Malaysia. He is the proud father of two sons, a daughter, and one grandchild. A passionate motorcyclist, Thomas and his wife have logged thousands of miles on their Harleys, including rides to Sturgis, South Dakota, and New York. He has participated in charitable rides such as Toys for Tots and the Key West Poker Run and has been active in several organizations, including the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association of Florida and the Northeast Exchange Club of St. Petersburg. When he’s not traveling or riding, Thomas enjoys reading. We are delighted to have Thomas as part of our community and encourage you to take a moment to say hello. He’ll have stories of his hog days to share.
